Non-Clinical Therapeutic Support for Children in Out-of-Home Care on the Gold Coast
Every child in care deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported. Movement Therapeutic Support Services provides non-clinical therapeutic support to children and young people living in out-of-home care (OOHC) across the Gold Coast region of South-East Queensland. Delivered by Heather Russell (BHumServ/BCCJ), working collaboratively with carers, case managers and schools to build genuine stability and wellbeing.
Heather places a strong emphasis on creating felt safety and building an authentic relationship with each child, recognising this as the foundation from which trust and lasting change can grow. All support is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and culturally sensitive, guided by the Queensland Child Protection Act 1999 and the National Standards for Out-of-Home Care. At the heart of it all: meeting each child where they are, building trust at their own pace, and amplifying their voice.
