To help guide referral planning and expected timeframes, Movement Therapeutic Support Services uses a three-tier framework to match the intensity and duration of support to each child's level of need. This is determined during the 8–12 week Assessment Phase and confirmed in the child's Individual Support Plan.
Tier 1 — Low
Child is generally settled in placement, with mild emotional or behavioural difficulties. Carer is well-supported, and school concerns are minimal.
Tier 2 — Moderate
Emerging behavioural, emotional, or relational difficulties, with some placement stress. School engagement concerns may be present and carers require active skills support.
Tier 3 — High
Complex trauma presentation with significant behavioural challenges. Placement may be at risk and there may be school exclusion or multiple services involved.
Please note: All Therapeutic Support Sessions are preceded by a structured Assessment Phase (8–12 weeks), during which the recommended tier, session frequency and support plan are established collaboratively with the child, carer and wider care team. Progress is reviewed at 6–8 week intervals, with a formal review after 3 months to confirm whether to continue, adjust goals, or begin step-down and exit planning.
